In a world where many people feel disconnected and unheard, spoken word poetry—in many cases called "slam"—is an artistic form of self-expression that can have a powerful impact on the audience. It has become a phenomenon among youth throughout Canada and the United States.

Join 10 of Victoria's finest youth poets for a night of art that will move you and make you think. The evening will be MCd by local high school student and runner up for 2013 Victoria Youth Poet Laureate, Emily Gittens.

This audience judged competition will bring the world of new economy into the realm of slam, with special acknowledgment for any poet who successfully performs a piece with the theme of "money" or "economy." Prepare to be blown away in a hurricane of words and mind-bending introspections that will make you want to snap your fingers and clap your hands!
